A shooting in southwest Las Vegas has resulted in murder charges against three men after a group followed individuals accused of committing an armed robbery. The violent encounter took place at approximately 2:11 a.m. on Oct. 10 at the intersection of West Rochelle Avenue and South Durango Drive. Residents in the area should remain alert to ongoing legal proceedings as the suspects face numerous criminal counts in local courts.

The incident began earlier that morning when a group of friends left a Halloween party and stopped at a restaurant parking lot located at 6530 South Rainbow Boulevard. While there, witnesses observed an armed robbery unfold. A masked individual dressed in black approached a man, demanded his gold chain, and took it. Witnesses also reported seeing two armed men punching and pistol-whipping the victim, with one assailant using an AR-style pistol and the other wielding a handgun.

Following the robbery, the individuals accused of the attack left the scene in a silver 2018 Nissan Kicks. Four people in a light blue Acura decided to briefly follow the fleeing sports utility vehicle. As both vehicles neared a traffic light at West Rochelle Avenue and South Durango Drive, the Acura came to a stop while the Nissan turned. Gunmen inside the Nissan then opened fire on the stationary Acura.

A total of 28 cartridge cases were later recovered from the intersection by crime scene analysts. One of the fired bullets struck an 18-year-old passenger sitting in the back seat of the Acura. The injured passenger was struck in the face and head, and subsequently died at a hospital on Oct. 17 as a result of the injuries sustained during the ambush.

Police used video surveillance footage, mobile phone records, and witness accounts to identify the individuals involved. According to investigators, one of the accused men acknowledged being at the initial parking lot, noticing an unknown vehicle following them, and firing upon that vehicle with a rifle. Another suspect told detectives that his companions were the ones who shot at the car, though police records tie him directly to the active shooting.

Three teenagers, including two 18-year-olds and one 19-year-old, are now being held without bail. Each faces 66 felony charges and 28 gross misdemeanor counts, including open murder with a deadly weapon and three counts of attempted murder. Two of the co-defendants made brief initial appearances in Las Vegas Justice Court on Thursday morning, while the third was scheduled for his initial hearing on Thursday afternoon.

Legal proceedings for all three individuals are scheduled to continue this month. The 19-year-old suspect is scheduled for a court appearance on Nov. 10. The remaining two co-defendants are scheduled to appear together in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 19.
