A 75-year-old man died on Oct. 22 after he was hit by a car on South Torrey Pines Drive, north of West Celeste Avenue, Las Vegas police said. The crash happened at about 7:14 p.m. on Oct. 1, and he was taken to University Medical Center's Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police said evidence at the scene and video surveillance show a 2000 Honda CR-V was heading south when it hit the man as he crossed in a marked crosswalk. Police said the driver did not see him and did not stop in time. The driver stayed at the scene and was not impaired, according to police.

His death is the 100th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2026. The department's Collision Investigation Section is still investigating. Drivers should slow down and watch for people in crosswalks, especially in the evening.
