Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said a pedestrian was struck at about 5:04 p.m. on Aug. 14 at East Pebble Road and South Maryland Parkway. Police later classified the crash as fatal.
Police said a 2011 Toyota Highlander was westbound on East Pebble Road in the left-turn lane. It turned left at South Maryland Parkway on a flashing permissive arrow. The pedestrian was crossing in the marked crosswalk from the southwest corner.
Police said the front of the SUV hit the pedestrian as it came to a controlled stop. Medical crews took the pedestrian to the Saint Rose Dominican Sienna campus, and police said the injuries were suspected to be minor at that point.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and was not impaired. The crash did not meet the criteria for a response from the department's Collision Investigation Section.
